Some commentary for this morning concerning what's on TV again, namely RT News again. It seems as though they themselves recently have also committed a cardinal sin, this one from Spider Jerusalem's Church of Journalism: they have become the news. How come you haven't heard about this yet? Well unsurprisingly they are the only ones reporting it. Same way some of their coverage on Ukraine and Crimea consisted on them pretending to be John Stewart by constantly calling out Fox News with fact checking and some humor, it was detrimental for anyone interested in wanting to watch actual news as it is right now. True enough they would however have a good reason to do this as John Kerry himself last week blasted them as a state-sponsored propaganda bullhorn for Pussy Riot's #1 Fan and sexiest lion tamer of our times Vladimir Putin. Personally I don't believe that's true, and whatever business Kerry has condemning a media outlet with a liberal bias is really glaring. But you see that's the thing, RT is not a trustworthy news source but not because it's propaganda, but because they have the exact same deal as Fox News, it's strongly biased and will constantly behave in its contrarian views separate from other networks.
I'm not sure what MSNBC has been up to in maybe the past two years, while CNN has been riding high on the revival of Tales From The Crypt with its new host Nancy Grace, so I've narrowed down my choices for news networks between these two extreme factions. It's very entertaining and you people should try it, you'll see it's kinda like hanging out with someone bipolar! Most of my interest in RT has been their advantage to cover on Edward Snowden and the Ukraine situation, and from that very situation is when the cracks began to appear on their reporting. Sometime after Viktor Yanukovich left for Russia they began tossing around the term Neo Nazi without regard and suddenly all the effort and sacrifice for the Orange Revolution was seen as a hideous mistake. Never mind all the swat beatings and Orwellian text messages, the protestors had accomplished their goal and took Kiev...and that's terrible! Apparently they also tried to snipe one of their reporters on the scene, and they're very sure it was them during the time when the best the protestors had were hunting rifles against AK47s and sniper rifles once their top military man resigned and all knives came out. You'd think they would go into all this with at least a sense of betrayal once they started to see all the paramilitary movement fearing the worse from the Russia military making their moves and Putin making his statements, but no, it all just came bizarrely sudden. One second they were with the protestors showing us viewers some of the uglier riot scenes with police brutality and shootings, the next the opposition were a bunch of Nazis that had violently taken over. But then came the Crimea referendum, which Obama himself blasted as a facade while RT presented a city making a drastic decision in a drastic situation, and thankful that they could make such decision.
Between all this their coverage had some brain dead moments like pro-wrestling or gangsta rap. The network needed a rival and Fox News was gonna be that rival, whether they liked it or not! At the top of the headline news breaks they would have long segments devoted to how their wacky Neocon bias is the biggest evil of Evar that there is. And much like Vince McMahon to Dixie Carter, Fox News responded with...going about their business and not even mentioning them on their network!
So here we are today, Putin sanctioned on a daily basis because he still needs Ukraine, this hipster American division for a Russian news network is seeing Neo Nazi futbol ultras crawling in their Veggie Lo-mein, and all the while what they really end up showing us is the paramilitaries sent to anyplace now peacefully protesting the people in charge at Kiev not being interested in using violence on those people. How did John Kerry arrive to the conclusion that it's Putin's propaganda machine that now got them up in arms instead of reporting the news I have no idea. It's The Idiot Box, and today I turn it off.
